ACHA's Graduate Nurse Program (GNP)
The ACHA Health Graduate Nurse Program (GNP) aims to provide a supportive and flexible learning environment to assist graduates to consolidate their nursing knowledge and skills based on the Australian Nursing Council Incorporated (ANCI) Competency Standards for the Registered Nurse, 3rd Edition – May 2000.
OBJECTIVESThe Graduate Nurse Program will assist the graduate by:
2010 COURSE STRUCTURE & DURATIONThe Graduate Nurse Program is a 46-week clinical program, based on full-time employment, with 6 weeks annual leave. The course may be offered part-time by negotiation with the relevant Director of Nursing. Formal commencement date is Monday 8 February 2010. We offer:
OPTION 1 – Specialty ProgramGraduates who select this option will be allocated to a specialist area, spending the year in a Critical Care area of their choice: ICU, CCU, & Perioperative including Anaesthetics & Recovery
OPTION 2 – General ProgramGraduates who select this option will spend six months each in two different areas of their choice
Clinical RotationsGraduates have a choice of ACHA hospitals and several areas for their rotations:
Ashford Hospital
Flinders Private Hospital
The Memorial Hospital

4. All offers of employment as a Graduate Nurse will be subject to registration with the Nurses Board of SA. Graduates must hold a current Certificate of Registration (Practising Certificate) and must present it to their Unit Manager prior to commencement.
